The Garden Design Process

  • Garden design brief

    Initial Meeting

This is a chance to meet you on site and discuss your requirements, aspirations, budget and lifestyle. This will help inform the direction of the design and tailor it to your requirements. Not all gardens require a complete re-design and this initial site appraisal will consider how the garden relates to the house and will identify constraints, opportunities and practicalities. Following the initial consultation, a quotation is prepared.

  • Site Survey & Analysis

A survey is essential as the basis of all design work. A second visit to the garden allows for photos, measurements and levels to be taken and existing features to be catalogued. Depending on the size and complexity of the garden, this may need to be provided by a surveyor.

  • Concept Plan

Moodboards and initial plan/s of the garden will be drawn up to provide a range of visual ideas and options for the garden layout, features and planting styles. They allow us to explore the design concept together and for you to provide feedback. Images will be used to show design intent, not necessarily the actual finished plants or hard landscaping. Several moodboards may be necessary, and will help inform the next design stage

  • Detailed Layout Plan

An initial scale plan of the garden will be drawn up. The plan will show boundaries, hard landscaping, hedges, trees, shrubs and structural plants. It will allow you to see for the first time what your finished garden could look like and allow us to discuss any adjustments.

  • Garden Design

    Final Design with Specifications

Once the initial design has been approved by you, a final design will be completed. This will specify dimensions, level changes, lighting, drainage, materials and recommended suppliers.

  • landscaper

    The Build

If you have a preferred landscaper then we can provide a final scaled drawing, along with setting out plans and construction drawings, for them to use. Alternatively, we can contact landscapers for quotes. These will then be sent to you to decide which contractor you would like to give the work to and will be commissioned by you.

Once the project has started, you may require a project monitoring option. More information on this option can be provided at the initial consultation. Depending on your location and your preference, we can be available to inspect work at key stages or on an ad-hoc basis as required

  • planting design

    Plant Supply & Planting

We can source high quality plants from well-respected trade suppliers and have them delivered directly to your home. If required we can then carry out the planting on site to make sure the plants are given the best start in their new home.

We can also supply aftercare instructions and carry out ongoing maintenance if needed.
